E-mail preview pane for MS CRM 3

CRM's e-mail functionality is not the best in the world, and I want what can be done in Outlook to be available in the browser client so we can use CRM from any machine.

Our CRM consultant has implemented a really nice e-mail preview facility, that appears in all relevant entities.

A new link on the left in "my workplace" or any entity links to a history of relevant e-mails, with a preview pane below. Furthermore, attachments are indicated in the preview pane, and you can open them from there with just one click.

Yes, one click - now why can't Microsoft do that?

A further advantage is that if you use this for reviewing new e-mails, you can delete them from there, thus saving them being stored on the server. You can't do that from the "queues" of CRM.

Can you post a screenshot?

I guess he's just embedding the outlook control in a customized html/asp page? The same functionality is available as a gadget for 'iGoogle';
see http://www.google.de/ig/directory?hl=de&root=/ig&dpos=top&num=24&url=http://andyast.googlepages.com/MSOutlookWidget.xml

Nope - that would mean accessing Outlook wouldn't it? And I want to assume access to Outlook is not possible.

Sorry, I meant "access to exchange", not Outlook.

We are interested in doing this very thing. Is there some way we could talk with the consultant that did this to see if it's something we can use/buy.

You can contact me winchell_j@yahoo.com

MORE INFORMATION

Hi everyone

Apologies for my blog laziness and for not responding to these posts.

The guys who did this for me are at www.excitation.co.uk and can be e-mailed at "info" at the same domain.

In response to one post above: Yes, we do have these preview on most entities, including users.

As far as I understand, this feature is not productized, so I don't know how easy it would be for them to make it generally available. But it seems to me a nice feature that would sell well!
